Paycheck Estimate

Estimate gross pay, overtime pay, simplified federal and FICA withholding, optional deductions, optional state withholding, and take-home pay.

State tax is only included when you enter an estimated state rate or withholding amount.
Used only for a simplified annualized federal income tax estimate.

Estimate only: This calculator provides an estimate only and is not legal, tax, payroll, or financial advice. Pay, time off, final paycheck, and work-hour results can depend on employer policy, payroll records, employment agreement, and official labor guidance.

What This Paycheck Calculator Estimates

The calculator estimates regular pay, overtime pay, gross pay, Social Security, Medicare, simplified federal withholding, optional state withholding, deductions, and take-home pay for one pay period.

It supports hourly and salary pay, common pay frequencies, overtime hours, pre-tax deductions, post-tax deductions, additional federal withholding, and a state dropdown covering all 50 states plus DC.

How the Estimate Works

Hourly pay uses hourly rate multiplied by regular hours, plus overtime hours multiplied by the overtime multiplier. Salary pay uses annual salary divided by the selected pay frequency, then uses a common 2,080 annual work-hour estimate for optional overtime value.

Federal income tax is a simplified annualized estimate using filing status, standard deduction, and federal bracket constants. It is not a full Form W-4 or IRS Publication 15-T withholding calculation.

State Withholding and the 50-State Dropdown

The state dropdown changes the state note and official source link. TechTride does not hardcode exact state tax tables here unless the data is verified from official sources.

For states with no broad wage income tax, the calculator does not add state withholding unless you enter a manual rate or amount. For other states, use the optional estimated state tax rate or state withholding amount if you want a cautious planning estimate.

Trust and Accuracy Notes

Before relying on this estimate, compare it with your pay stub, Form W-4, employer payroll records, benefits deductions, time card, overtime records, and official federal or state guidance where relevant.

This calculator provides estimates only and is not tax, payroll, legal, HR, financial, or accounting advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my paycheck?

Start with gross pay for the pay period, add regular and overtime pay, then subtract estimated federal withholding, FICA, state withholding if entered, pre-tax deductions, post-tax deductions, and any additional withholding.

What is take-home pay?

Take-home pay is the estimated amount left after withholding and deductions are subtracted from gross pay. It is sometimes called net pay.

What affects paycheck deductions?

Common factors include Form W-4 settings, federal withholding tables, Social Security, Medicare, state and local taxes, benefits, retirement contributions, garnishments, and employer payroll setup.

Is this paycheck calculator exact?

No. It is a simplified estimate only. Actual payroll can depend on Form W-4, employer payroll settings, state and local rules, benefits, deductions, and payroll timing.

Can I estimate overtime pay?

Yes. Enter overtime hours and an overtime multiplier. The default multiplier is 1.5, but the correct treatment can vary by job, employer, and location.

Can I use this calculator for salary pay?

Yes. Choose salary pay and enter annual salary. The calculator estimates regular salary pay by pay frequency and uses a common 2,080-hour annual schedule to estimate an hourly overtime value.

Why is my actual paycheck different from the estimate?

Your real paycheck can differ because of W-4 entries, benefit deductions, tax credits, local taxes, employer payroll rules, reimbursements, bonuses, garnishments, or corrections.

Should I check my Form W-4?

Yes. Form W-4 can materially affect federal withholding. Review it with your payroll records or the IRS withholding estimator if your actual paycheck differs from expectations.

Estimate only: This paycheck calculator provides an estimate only. Actual take-home pay can vary based on Form W-4, federal withholding tables, state and local taxes, deductions, benefits, employer payroll setup, and payroll timing.
